Complete title: Integrated WASH and Protection Response to DRC and South Sudan refugee influx (in) South Western and West Nile regions of Uganda.
This manual is primarily designed as a practical guide for field engineers evaluating, designing and installing solar powered gravity-fed water systems (SPWS). The body of the document contains general instructions, design, installation and operation and maintenance guidance. The appendices at the end of the document are a series of field instruments intended to be printed out and carried in the field to aid design and installation.
Engineers Without Borders – USA is a non-profit humanitarian organization established to partner with developing communities worldwide in order to improve their quality of life. In Uganda we have among others partnered with the Ministry of Water and Environment and several other non-governmental organizations including Oxfam.
As a partner implementing the ECHO–HIP funded “Integrated WASH and Protection Response to DRC and South Sudan refugee influx in South Western and West Nile regions of Uganda” program with Oxfam-Uganda, one of the key deliverables for Engineers Without Borders (EWB) – USA is capacity development in the management, operation and maintenance of water systems in refugee settlements and host communities with a focus on transitioning to sustainable operation and technical capacity of institutional operators.
