This document is intended as a guide to introduce and train the users/operators and County Engineers in the use and operation for the  solar water pumping systems with batteries developed as pilots in Kenya (2) and Zimbabwe (3).

Pilots are conceived as an adaptation of existing solar photovoltaic direct pumping plants. They are converted into photovoltaic pumping plants with batteries and an autonomous control, monitoring and management system, with the possibility of remote supervision, monitoring and control.

The final objective is to achieve a photovoltaic plant that makes full use of the available photovoltaic energy, that covers the water pumping needs of the communities and offers different possibilities of utilisation of the surplus electrical energy.

The general block diagrams as well as the electrical schematic of the installation are available for this purpose in this document.
