Webinar on Solar Powered Water Systems (SPWS) in Humanitarian Context – Making Sense of SPWS Expansion
This webinar will discuss the different parameters for solarization of existing water schemes in the humanitarian context. Water Mission International will introduce retrofitting existing water systems into solar, followed by a presentation from Rocky Mountain Institute on overpumping and how to limit it. IOM UN Migration will discuss the economic considerations for solar pumping schemes (eg. payback periods and cost savings).
The four-part webinar series, “Capacity Building and Learning on Solar Powered Water Systems” is organized jointly by the Global Solar and Water Initiative project with funding from USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), and Energypedia. This series will focus on SPWS to raise awareness and to build the technical capacity of humanitarian WASH actors and other development organizations.
